Jade had a genuine, pleased smile on his face as the horses paid him attention. They were cool. He didn't actually have anything in his pockets except for his wallet in the back one, so he was good as far as not having literal horse thieves (thieves that were horses?) lift anything from him.
"It's okay," he said, clearly not minding at all.
He watched the horses amble off and then turned back to Jaime. "Nobody I know does," he said. "There has to be somebody around here, though." There'd been a barn and pasture here before, after all.
