Re: Sebastian and Greg
Greg was just so glad they'd been sitting this close to each other on the bus. At some point he'd been up front, crouching in the aisle while he talked to someone and he'd been so annoyed at being told to go back to his seat. But what if he had still been there when the bus crashed? It didn't seem so stupid now, all those 'boring' rules. If Sebastian was still on that bus and Greg didn't know he was okay, he'd be freaking out really badly by now. There were still people in there that he worried about, but it was comforting to have Sebastian lean in against him, alive as he'd said, alive and right there. "I can't wait to go home and just sleep," Greg mumbled, watching the bus groggily as more people started clambering out. In his mind he was doing a mental name roll, ticking off his schoolmates' names each time someone came out.
“Me too,” Sebastian sighed. He had the feeling it was going to be a while before they got there though. The paramedics wanted to check everyone out. Those without injuries were being separated out and Sebastian had the feeling the both of them were on a list to go to Mercy. And then waiting for their parents to pick them up. Sleep was probably a long way off for the both of them. “Do you think I could just close my eyes for a few?” he asked. He didn’t think he could actually sleep, not with his head pounding the way it was, but resting would be nice. His eyes closed as he sighed, then opened again to watch the back of the bus. “Tell me if you see Jules. I want to make sure she’s okay.”
Greg wanted to close his eyes too and it probably didn't make sense that he felt like he had to stay awake if Sebastian didn't. He was stubborn though and he would stay awake if he had. "Yeah, it's okay," he said quietly. "I'll watch out for her." He was already doing that mental tally as best he could, though he was going by haircolor and outfits in most cases as everyone coming off that bus was a little blurry. Jules would be easy to spot though, he remembered what she was wearing and if she wasn't hurt she'd probably make a beeline over to him and Sebastian anyway to make sure they were okay.
“Thanks, Greg,” Sebastian said, leaning a little more solidly against Greg as he shut his eyes. Just for a second, he told himself. He was still listening to the noises around them, the frantic, scared voices of his friends. The lights from the ambulance and firetruck shined into his eyes even with them closed, but after a minute or two he was able to ignore them. He was just too tired. Too worn and worried and hurting. The one plus about going to the hospital was that they might give him something for his head. Until then, he’d just have to wait, but at least he had Greg with him. They could get through this, so long as they stayed together.
