"I hope you're right," Grady said. He didn't want to sacrifice himself but he would for Persephone. There was little he wouldn't do for her. Even if she didn't necessarily feel the same way towards him. That was important right now. Getting out of the world of fairy tales was the more important thing right now.
"I didn't mean that," Grady said, blushing slightly, "I just meant that very few people do something for nothing, even if they think they are friends. People always want something back." At least that was his experience. He wasn't trying to be rude but he was being serious.
