RP: Did you really think I wouldn't figure it out?
Date: 6 February 2023 Characters: Sophie Avery, Xalden Dolohov Location: Xalden's place Private/Public: Semi-Private Rating: -- Summary: Sophie confronts Xalden Completion: In Progress
A lot of people underestimated Sophie. In a way, she liked that fact. It was something she could use to her advantage, because truthfully, she was a lot more intuitive and intelligent than people gave her credit for. It was one of the things Devlin had always liked her for. One of the reasons she was his right hand. Xalden, apparently, was one of those people who didn't know exactly what Sophie was capable of.
Sure, he knew to some extent, but she was sure he didn't see her figuring all of this out. The only thing she didn't get was... why was he letting Devlin take credit for everything that he was doing lately? Sophie was never one to come up with the plans, she just liked the idea of executing them, especially if it involved the Cruciatus Curse. The curse she was the most efficient at and she enjoyed casting on unsuspecting victims immensely.
It wasn't a difficult process to figure out in the least. The fact that Xalden had been the one to ask her to get people together for Devlin's meeting had seemed suspicious. Devlin showing up later than everyone else sealed that. Devlin was always the first here, followed shortly afterward by Sophie. That was when she really began to suspect something was off.
Then there was the thing with the auror. If it had been Devlin's plan, he would have more than likely sent Xalden and Sophie to work together on it. That was an arrangement Sophie had never really been happy with, but she wouldn't tell Devlin no and he knew that. Then why was it Xalden who called for them in the first place? Had it been Devlin's plan, wouldn't he have been the one to call for Sophie and Alessia?
She was even willing to venture that the breakout had been Xalden's plan, but why go to all of the trouble of rounding up Devlin's followers only to let them believe it was Devlin's plan? Why do all of this just to let someone else take the credit for it. And for that matter, why was Devlin taking the credit? She had two options to figuring all of this out. Straight to the sources. Devlin or Xalden. She had a feeling that as much as she hated him, Xalden was her best bet.
She apparated near his house and shortened the distance between herself and his front door before knocking on it loudly, to be sure to get his attention. She wanted answers and she wanted them now.
