"Well then don't say anything," Kalli replied harshly, "because you're only making a fool of yourself." She knew that the odds were she wasn't really making any sense, but she didn't care. Maybe confusing him would get him to just leave. It sounded like a good plan, if it was intentional, but things were confusing her, which caused her to be confusing in the way she spoke.
When he said he had a job to get back to, she raised her eyebrows expectantly, but even as he said so he didn't seem to be leaving. Was he magnetically attached to that spot or something? Maybe she could be allowed to move to another desk to finish her day's work. "Fine," she said finally, "if it will get you to just leave, I will."
When he said he didn't mind taking it, she rolled her eyes. Why did she have to get the weirdos? Most guys didn't want to be treated that way and would be turned off by it. He didn't mind?
