"I didn't say I did," Kalli replied defensively. Her words weren't a lie. While she did feel that way, she had never in so many words told him she did. She was going to stick to that because there was no way she'd let him know more about her than she let her own brother know.
Her eyes followed him as though waiting for him to leave. He'd asked her out, she shot him down, wasn't this the point where a guy made his exit to keep at least some of his dignity? Aras didn't appear to be ready to leave, though. Then he spoke. She rolled her eyes. "Are you?" she asked dryly. "I thought you'd gone already. Perhaps that was wishful thinking." Was she coming off too harsh? She couldn't be sure. She did know that she couldn't let him think he had a chance. When he finished, she shrugged. "Fair enough," she said to try to lighten it somehow despite not being sure why she would do that, "but I still don't date."
