Dayna had been looking for her brother since she woke up and so far had no luck. She'd checked the common room, his dorm and even the Great Hall, but she couldn't find Zeke and it seemed that no one else really knew where to find him either. She had one more thought before it might be all a lost cause. She walked out the double doors that led to the grounds and glanced around.
Her brother still wasn't really within sight, but her plan to find him had extended beyond just coming outside. The grounds were large and had a lake. She walked from the castle doors toward the lake to see a lone figure standing there. It was too far to tell for sure at this point, but her guess was that it was Zeke.
As she got closer, she discovered that she'd been correct. She walked up behind the boy just in time to watch him try to skip a stone and hear his words. She frowned and shook her head. He shouldn't be sad, not today. Not any day, really. "I thought I might find you out here," she said in a cheerful tone as she stood next to him. "Happy birthday, little brother," she added as she turned to give him a hug.
