What about the rogue American vampires? Is there advantage to ruffling their feathers by implicating them in a perceived power-grab? Everyone in the room - presumably, this added with a look and raised eyebrow at the stray werewolves - knows that assassination of the public face of a coven is among their goals. The fact that they won't technically be responsible doesn't need to stop them from being the subjects of an investigation. Poking the hornets' nest might turn out something interesting.
