Murder By Numbers
A chase is under way as Walter is once again going for his final prey. Walter walks along the rounded circle halls of the Water Prison. He doesn’t seem a little worried either. The madman walks casually along the hall of the Second Floor. Walter holds an axe within his hand while dragging it along the ground with an awful ear shattering sound. Henry runs on up ahead trying to escape his killer. The man in distress looks for the doors to the outside. He is just about to reach for the door when the sound of patting and hitting on the walls begin. The Wall Men in each room begin to pat along the walls. Henry looks up at hearing this. The one man a little confused on what is going on now. Walter walks along slowly but is catching up to Henry. A dirty grin plastered upon those lips; Walter picks the axe up from scraping the ground. Henry looks around not hearing the axe anymore. He looks over his shoulder in horror, as now Walter is even CLOSER.
The sound of the ‘drumming’ gets louder and Walter begins to sing. That’s right, sing. “Once that you’ve decided on a killing…” He begins while stepping closer to Henry who is totally confused. “First you make a stone of your heart.”
Henry blinks lightly while looking towards the other who is singing. This truly struck Henry as odd. Walter walks even closer to Henry. Henry steps back away from him. “…!”
The axe now drops to the ground only for the metal to drag again. Walter’s green eyes looking right for Henry. This is Henry’s only chance for escaping now! He moves forward and takes the knobs on the door and pulls the door open. Walter chuckles to this and watches Henry go out. The madman walks on to the door and hums. On each level now, the Toadstools were acting like guitar strings and a Patient 07+08 were strumming along them. First the Wall Men and now this? Henry wonders if he stumbled upon the Twilight Zone in Walter’s worlds. Walter carries the axe and begins along the outside as Henry goes up another floor.
“And if you find that your hands are still willing… Then you can turn a murder into art ~.” Coos Walter as he sings the song so nonchalantly. It is so eerie and unusual for the madman. However, this song kind of matched him. “There really isn’t any need for bloodshed ~…”
Henry rushes up the winding platform away from the singing madman. If Walter wanted to scare the poor man, he’s doing a great job at it! Henry passes by the Hummers as they begin to buzz in harmony just like those Wall Men. “What the…hell…”
Walter walks at an odd pace towards the other that is stalled now. His singing really is beginning to bother poor Henry. He drops the axe along the platform and drags the metal blade along the ground. This always alerts Henry even more. The chase in this place was futile for Henry. The poor man unable to get by at the moment. This helps Walter so much with his work. Henry’s footsteps able to be heard while he runs along. Walter glances up and grins giving a shake of the head. That messy maim of hair moving a bit. He hums along with the Hummers as he walks by them now.
Walter looks up towards his panicking Receiver. “You just do it with a little more finesse.” He continues with the song where he left off last. The Hummers buzzing along with the tune. “If you can slip a tablet into someone’s coffee ~” Walter walks closer up to where his confused prey is. Green eyes peers up towards the other on ahead. “Then it avoids an awful lot of mess!”
Henry rushes up to the doors to the third floor. He wants to break in and hide away from Walter. Who wouldn’t? The poor man is very confused and frightened. Henry stumbles inside the area and closes the door behind him. His chest heavy a little while he regains his grounds. He can hear Walter’s singing through out this place. “I have to escape!”
Can you imagine hearing the eerie singing of Walter echo through the cylinder shaped prison? Plus, on top of that, those creatures are going along on it. Henry looks up to the ceiling listening to the echoes of the killer’s voice within the area. ‘Its murder by numbers, one, two, three ~ It’s as easy to learn as your ABC! Murder by numbers, one, two, three ~ It’s as easy to learn as your ABC!’ This song is very odd and who would think of trying to sing this song? Henry walks slowly along the dim lit hall of the third floor. The Patient 07+08 were strumming along on Toadstools along in the hallway. Henry didn’t know how long he has until Walter comes in. The chorus part that Walter is singing is enough to make a person flee.
Walter indeed steps inside the hallway quietly before he continues to sing along in the hall. It echoes pretty well. “Now if you have a taste for this experience; and you’re flushed with your very first success?” He sings to Henry while tapping the blade of the axe along the wall. Water runs along through those pipes in a rush. “Then you must try a twosome or a threesome ~ And you’ll find your conscience bothers you much less.”
Henry sighs wearily in his attempt to escape. It’s like Walter is singing to him and it is explaining Walter’s motives or so. That is just too much info to take in. “Stop it, Walter!”
The killer doesn’t plan on taking orders from the one he is after. Walter would get Henry at the end of course. He chuckles and pursues the other on this pointless chase. Henry doesn’t have a chance this time of escaping. Walter is always determined to take out his plans and get what he wants. The madman sings like he could be the singer or vocalist of the song. Henry thinks at times that Walter has a wonderful voice but…! Walter taps the blade along the wall getting closer. Henry snaps out of it and begins to try for unlocked cell doors. The man passing by the instrumentalists in the hall. Wall Men still patting along the walls as well. EVEN the Tremors were moving along the walls in the same pattern to the song. Henry knew now he is doomed.
“Because murder is like anything you take to.” Calls out the killer with that singsong voice of his. The song continues while Henry desperately finds a way out. “It’s a habit-forming need for more and more ~.” Sings that eerie yet sexy voice of Walter. He almost has Henry in his reach but as soon as he gets close the prey escapes through a door.
Henry gasps as he falls into one of the bloody holes in the cell room. Down the man goes into each room with the holes in them. Unlike his recent tries when jumping down, he falls this time. “WALTER!”
Walter looks into the empty cell and notices the hole that Henry fell in. The killer looks down the hole and notices the call of help. He sings once again to the falling Henry. “You can bump off every member of your family.” Walter kneels down enough next. “And anybody else you find a bore ~.” He sings.
Henry winces as he reaches the ground with a thud. The Patient 07+08 plays ‘guitar’ with the Toadstools in this room. Henry finds his self within the lunchroom of the prison. It’s dark with little lighting… He sits up slowly and rubs his back while glancing up to the holes. The man groans lightly until he sees the Patient 07+08 strumming along. He freezes and slowly backs away along his hands and feet. The sound of Walter’s singsong voice echoing again along through the room. ‘Because its murder by numbers, one, two, three ~ It’s as easy to learn as your ABC! Murder by numbers, one, two, three ~ It’s as easy to learn as your ABC!’ That voice echoing through out the room again. Henry moves and gets up along on his feet. He takes off towards the kitchen now. The door being unlocked this time.
“I’m running out of escape plans!” Henry mutters to his self in distress. He has no idea where Walter is now. This makes things rather rough for the man.
Walter continues down the hall and gets down to the basement level where the kitchen is. He could easily appeared in there but what’s the fun in that? Walter walks at a moderate pace with the axe in hand. He hums along while getting down to where Henry is. Down each floor and along the walkway to the lunchroom. “Now you can join the ranks of the illustrious ~ In history’s great dark hall of fame!” He sings now while walking by the Wall Men along the walls here.
Henry reaches for the door to the kitchen and rushes inside the room. He proceeds to close the door and look around for an escape. The only other door in here is the one to the Torture Chamber. What a room to pick… This had to be a dream! He’s running out of time! “Oh god!”
Walter comes to the door finally where Henry fell through into the room. The madman looks to the door and pushes it open casually. In he goes… “All our greatest killers were industrious ~. At least the ones that we all know by name!” He sings out into the empty room.
He now comes closer to the door that separates him from Henry. The madman walks by the Patient and reaches out to the doorknob. Time seems to be running out for poor Henry. He has no choice but to head towards the other room. The man pressing the code numbers into the pad. Henry rushes and stumbles with it though. Walter taps the blade of the axe along the door. The door to the kitchen slowly opens with a screech. Walter steps inside and notices the other trying to get into the other room. He begins up behind Henry now while the other has that back turned to him. Henry shuts his eyes and gulps. The other happens to be right behind him and closing in. HE knew it.
“Come on. Come on.” He murmurs hastily while fumbling with the code. Finally it got the right one and the door opens! Henry rushes inside the room and tries to close the door.
Walter stops the door from shutting with his axe. The blade sticks through the area of door that is open and twists a little. Walter sings to Henry while drawing closer. “But you can reach the top of your profession ~. If you become the leader of the land…” He sings to the frightened Henry. The blade slips out and a hand replaces it opening the door. “For murder is the sport of the elected. And you don’t need to lift a finger of your hand!”
Henry backs up from the door and backs up as far as he could. He didn’t even realize he would be cornered in here. This is probably what the other wanted. There it is again. Walter’s voice echoing through the other side to in there with that singsong voice of his. ‘Because its murder by numbers, one, two, three ~ It’s as easy to learn as your ABC. Murder by numbers, one, two, three ~ It’s as easy to learn as your a, b, c, d, e ~.’ Walter opens the door and comes in with that axe in hand. He walks closer and closer to Henry now. Axe in hand while only Henry could see Walter’s green eyes gleaming in the light.
“One, Two, Three…” Walter sings lowly to Henry now. Almost there. “ABC ~.” Axe rises in the air as he prepares to strike. “One, Two, Three ~. ABC.”
Henry shuts his eyes and prepares to be killed here and now. The axe strikes but just as it does Henry wakes up in bed. It was a terrible dream… Or at least it seems that way. He notices the axe markings along his bed. And how could he get rid of the lyrics of the song in his head? Walter’s voice echoes through out the apartment once more.
That voice echoes inside the apartment for one final time. “Because its murder by numbers, one, two, three ~ It’s as easy to learn as your ABC. Murder by numbers, one, two, three ~ It’s as easy to learn as your a, b, c, d, e!”
Henry pulls at his hair and huffs. “GET OUT OF MY HEAD AND APARTMENT!” Dead…silence.
