CastAways by Serpenscript
Title: CastAways
Artist: [info]serpenscript
Pairing: Severus and who else, plus any additional pairings.
Rating: Um, PG? *has no idea what rating it is*
Medium: Digital media
Warnings: Highlight to view: blindness, paralysis
Theme: Overcoming Adversity, Love and Courtship
Prompt:Throw of the Dice/Death Be Not Proud
Summary: One the war was done, the Wizarding world cast off those who paid the price for the war in flesh.
A/N: It's my first time drawing old!anyone, so I'm sure there are hundreds of problems with this. But when I looked over the SS_GC prompts (*after* signups had closed, no less), the first line of what wanted to be a poem wiggled its way into my brain....this was the end result. I hope it's enjoyed; I was aiming for something bittersweet, but showing a depth of character and commitment.

Defiantly an awwwwwwwwww moment.

I just love the beauty of words and it truly represents how I look at a Snarry.
I just love the second picture because of its simplicity as well as the strength of the words.
Trust is always a strong theme for me with characters (trust issues myself), so the set up its well done and well thought out from start to finish. *squishes serpenscript in a hug*

um.... I mean well done *pats back*

Oh, my...I want to be "you" when I grow up. An wonderful artist and a writer who pens such beautiful words. The poem just wrapped itself around my heart and will just stay with me the rest of the day, I'm quite sure. The art is amazing. Love it.

This is so poignant and tender. It's beautifully written and executed. They at least got to have their life together. I love seeing old Harry and Severus. A very moving piece.

This is just incredible from start to finish...one of those I had to keep reading it over and over and studying the pictures. I also am a major sucker for old Severus and old Harry mainly because of what it implies--that they've now had the long and successful live they've deserved to live. I love the idea of these two living out their days together partly in the love part, partly the torture. lol. They would definitely be an interesting match. Your poem sums them up very, very well. It brought a tear to my eye. *sniffle*. I loved this, it was really beautiful. You were very successful in creating the *awww* moment.

Have you ever seen the movie, "The Notebook?" Because this totally reminds me of it - the simplicity and the complexity and overall the absolute commitment of feelings. So poignant and tender - simply wonderful!

The peaceful expresion on their faces in the last scene, the "my feet and his eyes" from the second, and how Severus still stands so tall and dignified in the first image - Gah! You made me all weepy and smiley.

Excellent job, love.

Cheers, Roo! And I am friends with her on LJ, but I just never know where to look for all the lovely pieces so I get lazy and ask for links. Thank you for indulging me. ;-)

I'm not even sure I have words to express how much this moved me, and as it is, the screen is blurry right now because my eyes are brimming with tears. I especially loved the first segment of the poem; perfection. Thank you for sharing your talent and your words.

oh, Serpent, I've told you before how awe inspiring this is, and I'm glad you get to hear it from others now, too. I love love love old!Snape and forever!Snarry, and this is so powerful.

"We don't need your help, and we haven't for years." I can hear the bitterness and pride, but also the strength of their bond. Brava, Ms. Snake.

Even without the art, this is a stunning entry; the sentiments expressed in the poem are universal and ones that those approaching the winter of their lives *cough, who me?* often entertain. But combining this poignant verse with the photos renders such a heart-stopping and inspiring story. They surely have nothing to fear from death; life has done its worst, and this made me smile, not cry.

Such a beautiful entry. Thanks for tackling an end-of-life scenario that was uplifting.

What a wonderful entry. It is a lovely thought that they could find succor in each other, and live content despite the obstacles. I love forever!snarry. Thanks.

I have this button for some reason. I'm not sure why. The only thing that can explain it is reincarnation or something similar, because I've had it since I can remember.

The idea of a life well-lived ending doesn't just pull at my heartstrings. It fucking tears them to shreds. When I first saw this piece (advantage of being a mod) I had to stop what I was doing and process it.

You really hit me right in the gut. The art is well-done and lovely, absolutely. But the story you conveyed (and it was a complete story) is just so full and so bittersweet.

Thank you for moving me. It's not often that something really does, but this did.

Thank you thank you thank you.

I'm not surprised that we're having a similar reaction to this, because it very much reminded me of your reincarnation piece, and you already know how much that bumped me to the left several paces. There's just something about this, you know?

You know.

OMG I'm happy I waited til I could see this on a computer- way better than on the phone.

This is so sweet and touching! I adored the drabble. So beautiful!

My favourite is the final stanza, not just for a HP fanfic but for a life philosophy. As long as you have your lover on life's journey, why bother keeping up with the Joneses.

Beautiful!
