Summary: There are two Severus’ in my head. One is not like the other. When the war is over, they end up with different lives in different universes.
A/N: I was going to have the two of them wind up in a room together and get it on, but that I thought that just wouldn’t happen. But if people think else wise… Really the Snape in my head is usually just doing wonderfully kinky things with a long list of delighted partners. This was just fun. Thanks to atypicalsnowman for the beta, you are just wonderful!
Severus the Sad
“And I told you for the last time Mr. Potter, I do not care what you have to say to me! I do not care what we have been through together! And I do not care what you say you feel for me! You are nothing but an outrageously rude boy who seems to think being the tool of Albus Dumbledore entitles you to anything you want! But dinner with me was not included when you sold your soul to destroy the Dark Lord!” Severus slammed the door with all his force before turning from it leaning lightly against it.
He did not move until he heard the frustrated footsteps trudging away from his quarters.
It was only when he was sure his visitor would not be coming back to try again that he returned to his favorite chair, the only antique his mother had salvaged from the Prince family when she was cast out, and lowered himself gently into it.
Several deep soothing breaths and the nausea the forced vehemence always caused him started to ebb. “You must do it Severus.” He spoke aloud to himself, in his natural soft tone. “If you let him in, if you let anyone close, they will just hurt you. They all do.”
Severus laid the box of Honeyduke’s chocolates Harry had forced into his hands onto the small lamp table and noticed with a small yearning sigh that they were indeed his favorite. Had anyone ever noticed before his preference for the super sweet milk chocolate raspberry creams? He didn’t think so. Now that made chasing Harry away even harder, he really was the most special of them all.
Knowing it was a night to wallow in what could have been, Severus pulled his special little book from it’s sacred spot on his book case and threw himself onto his chaise lounge to flip through it once again. He stared lovingly at the pictures, tracing his fingers over the little mementos of dried flowers and ticket stubs, and sighing at the jotted dates and notes reminding him of other times. Of others who had tried to love him.
His mother. Small and sweet, who loved her son more than she loved her own life. Which she proved when she took the beatings his father really wished Severus to receive. The beatings that finally ended her life.
Lily. Vibrant and exciting. The very best friend a boy could have. The one who took him to his first muggle carnival. He still had the admittance ticket here next to her picture. And the bear they had won still lived next to his pillow. It had been their last “date night” before James Potter had swept her off her feet and her dates became real.
Lucius. Gorgeous and confident. Showing him what he had been missing out on in the world of sexuality. Showing him too much really. Guiding him where he really never should have gone. And for what? To watch him settle down with Cissy and lead his perfect family life?
Sirius. A real man. Breaking apart the feelings he only had a hint of understanding with Lucius. Passion and sensations he was pretty sure he would never get to feel again. But it was a forbidden assignation back then and even the few stolen moments that had come years later would never have the chance to reach what was. A veil would see to that.
Remus. A gentle touch. Reverence and romance. As relaxing as Sirius had been exciting. The first time he had considered saying those three little words. The first time he had considered letting someone stay. But Severus was an experiment. One that didn’t last.
Albus. His mistake made when desperate. The mistake that proved letting people close just got him hurt. And nothing has ever hurt that much. Severus couldn’t think any further than that yet.
Draco. Draco was youth, inexperience, and what it felt like to be in charge for once. As beautiful as his father, with just the smallest taste of innocence left in him to make the months they spent in hiding together tolerable. But it was never meant to be permanent. They were both just a willing port in the storm. Not meant to last.
And Harry. The purest of them all. The golden boy. The chosen one. Severus hadn’t let him get close yet. Well, not as close as Harry wanted to be. Not as close as he wanted to Harry to be. There was finality about Harry. But whether he was his last chance or the final hurt, the one that would do him in, Severus would not risk.
They were all worth a place in his book. A picture, a keepsake, and a little story to remind him why he must be alone. Why he must put on his finely tuned façade day after day to chase them all away. Giving up love to avoid hurt.
Snape the Sexy
Snape stood before a tall gilded mirror in his foyer, taking in a last look before he left to meet friends in Diagon Alley for dinner, drinks, and dancing.
After two decades of cringing whenever he caught a glimpse of himself in the glass, it was wonderful, if not a little indulgent to be able to do a good long primp and be proud of what he saw.
As a school boy he had been awkward and unconfident.
As a death eater he had been nervous and unsure.
As a teacher he had been harassed and annoyed.
And as an active member in The Second Wizarding War against Voldemort he was just too busy.
None of these things helped one be their most attractive.
However, all of that was over now. Snape had the time to dedicate to the brewing of things like special shampoos and stain removing lotions.
He had the money, after years of not having to do anything with the considerable income he brought in, to visit a wizarding dentist for the works.
Snape wasn’t going to go as far as the extensive medi-charms to change his more prominent facial features. But it was amazing how little his proboscis seemed to matter with the all the other changes.
Especially when those changes were combined with the results a solid eight and a half hours of sleep every night for the past year. And many hours spent under the warming influence of the sun.
And he ate well. And exercised. And spent time with other people in social settings.
Rested, relaxed, and healthy; Snape’s harshness was softened.
All of it led to a man some people had trouble recognizing. One with thick shiny hair, clean straight teeth, and warm white skin stretched deliciously over taunt muscles.
The lack of recognition is obvious when men and women alike, those who would have never looked at him in any way but disgust, can be caught eyeing him up and down with expressions screaming lust.
It’s all done wonders for Snape’s self confidence.
This is more than obvious that night at the club as he is working the crowd in his steel grey button down. He never dreamed of owning a “shiny” shirt, but he can admit the soft gleam of the material really sets off his coloring. And the fit is perfect, hugging everywhere it should and no where it shouldn’t. As expertly tailored as black dress slacks that curve his ass like a sports car on a windy road.
Snape had already danced with half a dozen of the other patrons, including one past student who couldn’t stop telling him how “hot” he was.
Tired of the plebian crowd, Snape made his way to a door in the back that led to a V.I.P. area. It only took the dropping of the “Order of Merlin, First Class” at the end of his name and he was ushered through the door…
