I realize Snucius isn't as popular on the group but to me it makes lots more sense, even though I do enjoy reading Snarry quite a bit. It seems more logical for Severus to have become involved with Lucius when they were in school... he was isolated and under attack by the Gryffindors and there was this grand beautiful Head Boy who could look out for him who was also a Slytherin...
Anyway, I'm so glad you liked it. That's how I see Severus. Long pining even though he thinks he's likely to be betrayed and ready to save those he cares about with plots he cooks up in that brilliant mind of his. Oh... and utterly shocked when he realizes that someone does actually care. I think the idea that someone would really care about him and protect him would just floor him. (Dumbledore never did...)
