Severus Sighs Challenge
All,
With all the holiday fests going on, the Webmistresses have decided it might be good for everyone to take a breather and have a drabble/ficlet challenge that puts us back in touch with our inner Severus *sighs*.
The challenge is to write your own personal canon!Severus in 100 to two thousand words. That means the Severus *sighs* that lives in your heart and your daydreams, the one who, given free reign, would be the star of all your fics. Fill your boots with him, and set him in a scenario that best shows his distinct personality and how he exists for you.
So, WhiteCotton would not only write Severus as a sophisticated, highly educated wizard deeply rooted in the old ways, she would also write him in a scenario that would show him in his natural environment. thesewarmstars, however, would write him staggering bravely from the ashes of battle, bleeding and damaged, new wounds upon old scars, but definitely the (surprised) victor, while BertaS would have him taking cocks in both ends every Saturday afternoon.
snow has been kind enough to write an example. Since her Severus is slightly melodramatic, self-loathing, brave and always shrouded in a seemingly doomed yet grand romance, she's written a scenario to fit him.
So let your Severus out of his box, ladies and Stephen! Time to shake him off and put him where he belongs...whatever that means to you.

Example fic:
An explosion blasted Severus' ears and fire shot through the sky as he struggled to make his way to Harry. Spells were still being cast all around him and the sound of screams assaulted him, but he paid it all no mind.
He had to get to Harry.
Suddenly, Severus saw him, wobbling a bit on his feet and standing over a dead body that was barely recognizable. It was only the robes and sickly pale flesh that told him it was the Dark Lord.
Harry had killed him after all.
They were both free.
Standing there, chaos and a hundred different battles waging around him, Severus took in Harry, and realized he no longer needed him, that he was about to become redundant to the one person he had ever loved.
Not wanting any tearful goodbyes—or worse, cold rejection—Severus turned around and began to walk away.
"Severus!" Harry cried and he heard loud footsteps come up behind him.
"Oof!" he choked out as Harry embraced him from behind, then maneuvered himself so he could see Severus' face.
"You're bleeding," Harry said softly as he looked Severus over, no doubt seeing the torn robes and flesh wounds. "I killed him, Severus. It's over," he said, and then kissed him, only to pull back when Severus remained unresponsive.
"So you did. Well done, Potter," and Severus pushed Harry away as he began to walk towards Hogwarts.
"Wait!"
Severus spun around, fires still raging around him and forced himself to say, "You've done your duty, Potter, and I have done mine. There is nothing that remains to be said."
Looking at that beautiful face one more time, Severus turned on the battlefield and began to make his way back to his rooms, his heart breaking with every step.
Suddenly, he was forcefully turned around and his head was pulled down for a bruising kiss. He fought against it for a moment, before a tongue was swiping against his lips. All the fight left him as Harry told him without words all the things that needed to be said.
"You idiot," Harry said pulling away from him, his face torn with worry. "You think I'm going to let you go? Now? With all the bad things over and done with?"
Severus shook his head and said, "You'll regret this, Potter. I am not a nice man."
Harry had the gall to smile at him. "I didn't fall in love with a nice man. I fell in love with you."
Severus couldn't help the smile that slipped past his mask as the sound of the Order rejoicing drowned out his response. Harry didn't seem to care in the least, wrapping his arms around Severus and continuing the type of communication they did best.
