Frustrated, Remus lashed out at Severus, brandishing the book just under Severus' visage. "What does all this mean, Snape? What's supposed to be in this diary? Potions? Confessions of your blackened heart? How could you do all this to us? I wish you would come back!" With an angry growl, he lofted the book and fang high in the air and slammed them down on Severus' chest. The fang pierced his robes and sallow skin and blood spurted out right onto the corroded diary. Instantly light blazoned from the ruined pages, so bright that Remus had to turn and hide his face away.
When the light finally faded, he carefully looked back at the half-dead man. On top of his torso sat a diary now in pristine condition. With trembling hands, Remus lifted off his lover and gently opened it. The pages were crisp and clean and new ... and at first blank, but as he stared at it, confused, writing in a tight, pointed scroll appeared on a page.
To whomever is reading this, I would like an explanation.
Shit! What the hell had just happened?
Remus conjured a quill and ink and began writing back.
Your words are showing up in this book. I am writing back to you.
Nothing happened, then as the ink dried, the words faded into the page. A moment later more words emerged.
I sense familiarity. Who are you?
Remus considered this for a second, then decided on the truth.
Remus Lupin. Who are you?
A longer moment went by. He was afraid the being on the other end of this book would not respond back.
It would appear that I am saddled with Circe's own bad luck to come into the possession of you, my dear former lover.
Remus froze, almost dropping the book. What had he done? It certainly sounded like him, but it couldn't be Severus, ... could it? Taking a giant leap of faith, Remus replied.
You betrayed us, Severus; you betrayed me. I want to know why, and if you don't tell me, I will burn the pages in this book.
Another long pause.
Gryffindors. Always so pushy. Well, if you have the time, as this tale is longer than a centaur's mane, I suppose I can start from the beginning.
Remus answered.
I have the time. If you please.
A small smile crossed his face as he read through Severus' words. At last it looked as if his lover was finally back in his arms were he belonged.
