The Lost Weekend
Title: The Lost Weekend
Author: atypicalsnowman
Pairing: Snarry
Rating: PG
Word Count: 150-ish
Warnings: Therapy through Severus.
Summary: Severus moves on.
A/N: Written on the occasion of the author quitting her old, hated job and leaving her old, hated apartment. Unbetaed, which is not something I'm going to be doing often. Promise. 'The Lost Weekend' is a reference to a book of the same name, and also John Lennon's year-long stint in California.

A weight lifted from Severus' shoulders as he passed through the gates of Hogwarts. He turned around, looking back at his old prison; a job he'd hated, rooms that had long been closing in on him.

Done now. It was all over. He was free.

He hardly knew what to do with the feeling.

"Severus?" Harry asked, standing by his side. "Are you all right?"

He held Harry close to him, never more grateful for the warmth of his presence. It would be a new beginning for him too.

"Yes," Severus replied. "Yes, I am." And then he smiled for the first time in as long as he could remember.

Harry looked frightened. "Are you sure you're all right?"

He turned away from Hogwarts and began walking away, Harry tucked into his side. His lost weekend—twenty years of it—was finally over.

"Yes. I'm fine."
