Rex looked at her and shook his head, bewildered. "Even the sweetest have dark sides," the werewolf said sadly, as if realizing she were hiding some big secret of what she was capable of. He flashed her a grin in jest. "You do and I'm coming back here after a bad day and touching everything."
He wouldn't, because he didn't want to end up cursing himself in the process or being poisoned by some strange herb or powder. But he could tease her back with mock threats.
It was his job to worry, though he didn't point that out, he instead let his shoulders relax under her hand somewhat. "I'll try," he promised in return. The genuine concern was nice to have, and absolutely mutual. He wanted to believe her words for the duration of the week, and he probably would until the first idiot who'd had too much to drink stumbled into a stand or oncoming traffic.
At least for a little while, he let the blonde witch convince him otherwise. "I feel better already," he told her with his signature charming smile and tip of his hat before leaving.
