Not that Rex couldn't take care of himself, it was just his awful habit of putting these things off until they absolutely had to be taken care of. His smirk at least told her that she'd surprised him a little, they might have far more of a familial relationship, but she wasn't exactly blind. She was fairly sure her brother had never told Rex of the teenage crush she'd had at least.
While Seven Devils wasn't teeming with crime, the odd incident that resulted in a need for the Sheriff department to step in rarely got dealt with in a manner that people would consider standard police operation. Probably the upside of having a population barely over a thousand at least. Creative antics weren't exactly looked down on if they got the job done. "It's not a problem, you might need the pep talk before dealing with the Fete." It wasn't an annual thing, but they had enough events to know that they could either get very rowdy, or exceptionally dull.
"The kids would like that," wildlife in Seven Devils was rather varied, but horses were rarely in the town itself, unless they were being ridden through to go on the trails. Still a rarity. "So long as no one spooks Ranger and gets kicked in the face." That might be traumatic.
