All through her life, Addison kept magical charms around; protection charms, health charms, luck charms. It was just standard to having a little bit of something around most of the time. When she could, Addison had a tiny habit of making sure there was a little something for Rex too. She was never ambitious with it, she understood Rex's hesitance towards magic.
If he sometimes found odd buttons or regular stones in his pockets, well, it wasn't that odd. These things happened.
"Nevermind the tourists," Addison shook her head as she moved some items around, reorganising the counter somewhat, "the locals get back enough when there's drink and tourists." It probably turned into a territory thing; look at what I can do, look how great I am. "Hopefully no one finds their way to the Lookout." That was not a place for tourists.
The idea of being deputized had Addison laughing, "Because we know I'm oh so very intimidating?" She was tall, sure, and she had a fair bit of upper body strength, the hiking and travelling she'd done. But she had the demeanour of a wallflower, and people regularly didn't see her as a threat. "You might have a better shot if you deputize my cat."
