If this was hell, it's hard to say what that would make the ordinary looking door at the end of one of the long rows of identical, futuristic doorways. It stuck out like a sore thumb even at a distance: a solid grey with a large silver handle sticking out. Instead of biometric scanners and sensors, there was a push button intercom near the handle and the shiny black half-sphere of a security camera mounted over the doorframe.
There was no sign of any kind near the door to indicate what it led to, but as Archer approached, the handle turned and the door swung slowly inward on its own accord. Clearly this was some sort of supernatural omen and there was something Highly Significant on the other side of that door.
But instead of a demon or some other horrible denizen of The Pit, the former Marine would find himself face to face with a woman in a lab coat who was holding an armload of supplies and struggling a bit to open the door. She hadn't heard him yelling, and she wasn't expecting to see anyone out and about at this hour, so when she looked up and saw someone out in the hall, she blinked in surprise and let out a startled, "Oh!"
She quickly replaced her shocked expression with a smile and offered a polite, "Hi." Arms full as they were, she managed to do a quick wave with a few fingers. "Are you lost?" She couldn't really think of any other reason for someone to be out in this part of the sector at this hour. As she waited for a reply, she set her burden down at the ground near her feet: a hammer, some hooks and a large metal sign that read 'CLINIC' in large letters and 'Please Ring Bell' in smaller ones beneath it.
