“Nah,” she said with a dismissive wave of her hand. “I want to.” It reminded her of her own mother, and how perhaps she was just as crazy as Reed’s. She was always overly enthusiastic about things, constantly worried about the smallest events, and all she ever wanted in her life was grandkids to spoil rotten. It was a given that mother’s had at least one quirky aspect about them, as she felt like her own went just a bit bonkers when she had three children to take care of, two who weren’t exactly hers causing her to fret over her step children liking her. “I mean, I’ll go shopping with her, but I can’t promise her any grandchildren. Did you know ma always told me I wasn’t even going to get married because I was constantly a cussing, trouble making scalawag?” She snorted. But it wasn’t like it was the untruth.
Once he had given her the cone, she popped the last part of her own in, that favorite piece that was filled with chocolate at the bottom. “And for me,” she added, breaking little pieces and tossing it into the pond, but not without taking the occasional bite as well. For once, she wasn’t too uncomfortable by the close proximity. Normally she would bitch and bitch, and while she did feel just a tad discomfort by him holding her, there was also a sense of pleasure that she hardly ever felt. As he declared this as the best first date, she pulled back just to look at him. “Really?” she asked with her brows knitting. “… you’re so blazed, aren’t you?”
