WHO Mundane (Venessa) & OTA.
WHEN 8/12/2112.
WHERE Serenus Public Library & Information Center (center ground).
WHAT Venessa craves to learn the events of the past 100 years, and so she seeks detailed information.
RATING TBD
There were so many questions Venessa had that needed answers. She craved to be informed, much like most of the true occupants of the current century who learned about the past hundred or so years in their elementary schooling. A lot can happen in a hundred years, and even looking at the past you will find many great examples. We've gone from steam engines to oil, to electricity, even to hybrids. Massive jumps even exist in the timespan of a few decades. And, what better place to find answers than the local public library?
Hopping aboard Serenus' public transportation, Venessa took the trip into Center Ground, the epicenter for everything and anything one needed. She rested against the window side of the fast machine, trying to avoid the other body which sat next to her. It was like watching things move in slow motion -- everything quickly, in one way or another, caught Venessa's attention despite the fact they zoomed passed. One thing she especially noted was a billboard for Serenus University. Having been a university student herself before she was swept up, Venessa made a mental note to look into it's curriculum and courses offered. She was on track into finishing her degree in Middle Eastern Affairs -- but in this world, how relevant would it be? Yet another thing she would have to go and determine for herself.
Once the bus made a complete stop, Venessa traveled hastily to the nearest exit, trying to beat out everyone else in order to avoid waiting behind. She eventually succeeded, sliding past a balding obese man and a mother carrying an infant. Her destination in this part of Center Ground was quite obvious. It was a glorious building, probably rivaling the appearance of many libraries in the world during her own hay day. As she raced to the entrance, she made a habit of counting each step -- but eventually lost count as it surpassed 100. Once inside, she could only stare in admiration. Large, spiraling staircases encompassed all the way around each level of the library, and in the center sat a glass focal point, spewing in the light which was high above the early afternoon sky. It looked brilliant, the light through the glass cascaded a ripple of colors while the sun continued its rotation, providing a natural and colorful accent on the bare, basic walls. Venessa didn't know where to begin. The first level seemed to house "modern" computers; but she could barely work one from 2012!
Straight to the back was the librarian's desk, with a couple of women hovering around the area like hawks. Where did she go from here? Venessa assumed modern books were like advanced Kindles -- downloadable documents of some kind. Did they even have accessible paper archives? She bit her bottom lip, and slowly moved around the library, wandering around with some hope of finding what she came to find. A history book. Information. Political information of the past 100 years. And most importantly, why the city propped above the world?
