When they neared their homes, Hilary took a look at Miki who was apparently finding a lightning bug fascinating. It took her a moment but Miki blinked away the distraction to straighten up. She'd just realized Hilary was half carrying her. That was just insane.
She stepped away from Hilary and lifted a hand to her head. "Yeah, we're heading home. Call me tomorrow and check in, ok?" She offered a small smile to the kids. "And you guys try to behave the rest of the night when you get home."
"Yeah, don't tell anyone about what happened," Hilary said with a silent glare of warning. "The grown ups might actually believe you and then you'd never see Susan again." She wanted to add that if they told they'd answer to her, but Miki had managed to gather some strength and dragged the girl off toward her house.
There was a going to be some clean up time and passing out in Miki's future. She just hoped she made it through it all before she fell asleep.
