Wait, they were done? Miki blinked in surprise. This certainly wasn't what she'd expected from the IDPD that Egon had told her about. If she were more aware she'd be even less impressed than now. Miki still held the energy drink Susan had given her but wasn't in the mood to drink it. She'd rather just get home and sleep.
Hilary however was glad the cop was gone. It just proved her point. These people sucked and it was people like her that got things done. She turned to the other kids. "See? This is why you don't trust the police. They're just gonna screw you over. Go with private security or bodyguards. Like Miki and Susan!"
Miki shook her head and stood up intent to get out of there, "Oh no. Don't include me in that equation. I'm retired. No more of th-" her phone chose that moment to ring. She pulled it from a pocket and answered with a tired, "Hello?"
"Hi, Miki? It's Mrs. Kingston. I just called to say that we won't be able to get home until tomorrow morning. Traffic is such a hazard here. We'd really appreciate it if you could keep Hilary at your place tonight. I hope it's not a problem. We'll pick her up around noon, okay? Thanks again. Toodles!"
Miki blinked at the abrupt cut off even as she pocketed the phone. "Hil, you're staying with me tonight."
There was a slight flicker of sadness in Hilary's demeanor before she grabbed Miki's hand and was back to her normal self. "You can help me clean up the evidence!
Miki absently looked at the Pulse drink in her hand. "Yeah, sure. Why not? But let me sleep first."
"Cool." Hilary was pleased as punch for that. She looked over at Susan. " Remember, you promised me a new sword."
"Can I have a sword too?"
"I want a shield."
"I want one of those Holy Hand Grenades!"
"Can I use the bathroom?"
"I want one of those giant chocolate bars."
"No! I want that too! Change what I want!"
Hilary grinned as the other kids started to spout off their desires even as Miki gave her a look that said 'See what you started'. Ah yes.. Hilary's influence was just beginning. Her power would only grow with time. This she now knew.
