When Cal looked enthusiastic, Audrey broke into a bigger smile. She was a little worried that it would sound silly to a seventh year student, and as she and Veejay were thinking about keeping it between their sixth year friends, she had been a bit hesitant in mentioning it. "Yeah, we're trying to improve our wandwork and aim," she explained. "I- well, we'd invite you and Kris and the others but we know you're busy with NEWTs and we wanted to work on it on our own before asking you to give us pointers." She rushed on, wondering if she should have kept it silent. He was easy to talk to and she didn't think it would hurt his feelings for not being invited. In fact, she thought it was a compliment, since she felt all the seventh years knew more and were better at it than she was.
"I- I don't think I'm in charge," she blushed slightly. "But it looks like we'll have a good turnout from the number of people who signed up." Of course, she wasn't exactly pleased that Dresden signed up, but she thought she could deal with that. "I just wanted to have ideas ready for the first meeting." She smiled, not noticing that he hadn't mentioned who he wanted to invite or go with to the dance. If she really thought about it, she would figure he'd want to ask someone else.
She swallowed again and nodded, trying to smile wider, but it didn't quite work and when she realized it didn't work, she chuckled at herself. "I'm sorry I-" she sighed. "I guess I'm rubbish at this stuff," she murmured. She took a deep breath and followed to his next subject.
"Yes," her eyes lit up. "It looks interesting, and I still don't understand why others think it's childish. It tests us, our knowledge, our deductive reasoning, our magical skills, and our timing. Is that childish?"
