Audrey smiled reassuringly, a few of the nervous knots disappearing. He had been preoccupied? That was good, or rather, it was good that he hadn't noticed her attempts at trying to look composed and not nervous at the same time. And it was understandable, of course. He had NEWTs! "That's all right," she nodded. "I know it's getting close to crunch time."
She blinked, giving a small shrug as she fell into step. With every step forward, he'd be closer to his class and she'd be closer to the Great Hall and then he wouldn't have to notice her awkwardness. "Fun? Um, not really. At least, I don't think so. Just studying and probably brainstorming some ideas for the dance and figuring out a plausible schedule for defense practice," she said. She really thought her life was boring and uninteresting to her peers. "What about you?"
Then he had to mention Hogsmeade and she swallowed again, trying to give a braver smile. "Um... me too," she replied much softer. And she was honestly, if she could just relax. It would be nice, right? And he said they'd be friends no matter what happened. So if she fell flat on her face or made a comment that he disagreed with, he'd still want to be her friend. That was always reassuring.
