The week had been good so far in Audrey's eyes. Her friends were incredibly supportive even though she knew and she really knew that she was over-reacting to the idea of a "date". True, it would be her first date, but everyone had a date now and again and it was nothing to get anxious or worry about. And she hadn't really talked to Cal about it since the day he had asked her. That was mainly due to her avoiding it. She would smile and exchange the usual pleasantries if they ran into each other in the common room or halls, but at meal times, she would make sure plenty of friends sat between them and that she was focused on her friends when they spoke instead of her inner thoughts. She berated herself mentally for not being "one of the girls" and acting like them. Wouldn't that have been easier? To giggle and be flattered and just go about her business? She was sure they didn't overanalyze it.
Surprisingly today, she did not traverse the corridors with Rosie or any of her friends. Study Hall would start in about ten minutes, and even though she could simply study in the library, she thought it would be nice for a change of scenery. She also could use more table space and work out her plans with Veejay for a sixth-years defense-practice session. She thought it would be better to have it drawn up and let Veejay look at it before they presented their idea to their friends. If all went well, they could start practicing the following week.
With her thoughts on that, she didn't catch sight of a familiar boy heading from the opposite direction until it was too late to use another corridor. She swallowed, gave a friendly smile and wave. Hopefully, he was in a rush to get to Potions and wouldn't want to talk long.
