It was a fierce battle between Ravenclaw and Slytherin today, house rivalries brought to a new level by the compounding fact that professional Quidditch scouts were in the stands as spectators. Even Hufflepuff and Gryffindor players were anxious to be seen, taking a few minutes before the start of the game to broadcast their talents on the field.
With house pride on the line and possible recruitment in the future, both teams played fiercely matching neck and neck for goals. Madam Hooch faulted Ravenclaw for Blagging and Slytherin for Bumphing, but neither team secured an extra goal against the opposing keeper during the penalty rounds. With bludgers abound, Bletchley effectively dodged one sent to him care of a Slytherin beater. A Ravenclaw beater sent one to Montague, who dodged it, but it then was batted back by the second beater to Carmichael, nicking him in the shoulder towards the second half of the game. True to form, he continued playing despite his injury.
During that time, it became apparent that Montague was also not pleased with his fellow chaser when the other accidentally threw the Quaffle at Gallagher, whose surprise was evident as he fumbled; thankfully for Ravenclaw though, Davies caught the fumble and made a score against the injured Carmichael. The Ravenclaw beaters seemed to be on a roll, first trying to knock a Slytherin beater out with a bludger; that Slytherin batted the bludger to Davies who almost collided with Carmichael as she swerved out of its way. Slytherin wasn't about to stand for that, their beaters using a bludger backbeat tactic towards Gallagher, who almost flew into the goal post to avoid it.
In the end, the Slytherin seeker managed to catch the snitch, proving that even at Hogwarts, the Plumpton Pass can come into play. Final score: Ravenclaw with 370 points, Slytherin with 500 points.
