Audrey reeled back slightly at his exclamation, about to tell him once again that yes, she understood the joke was on her, that 'ha ha', it was funny, but he really didn't need to continue it. However, his next statement and his motions made her stumble in her words as she looked a little frantic herself. "But but..."
She cringed inwardly, hoping he wasn't going to yell, since she didn't particularly enjoy arguments, knowing full well she would be pegged as a "poor sport" to the joke even if she didn't find it amusing. But as she was already a poor sport to their previous conversation involving fallacies, she figured she could tell him the truth and maybe he'd let go of her arm. "But you already hurt me, Alexei," she said quietly. "And please don't say that you love me. I know you like Tacey. She thinks 'outside of the box' unlike me, and I understand that.
