Who:EVERYONE! What:HALLOWEEN When:Did you really just ask that?
The Great Hall was resplendent in the colours of the day, oranges and browns, rather than the normal colours attributable to the various houses - Albus and Minerva had outdone themselves once again. It seemed as if every year were better than the year before. Cobwebs dripped from the ceiling, and lit candles floated in mid air, dancing delightedly about the room. There were mirrors upon the wall, which if you gazed into them to admire your costume reflected back the image of a ghoul! Jack o'lanterns were carved, miniature black cats cavorted beneath one's feet, while small grey field mice ran rampart, chasing one another about the Great Hall. Skeleton waiters circulated offering smoking glasses of pumpkin juice, while upon the tables were piled food of all sorts, from cupcakes to cookies to candy to slithering snakes and walking spiders (edible, of course).
Halloween had once again arrived at Hogwarts.
A wizarding band had been engaged for the evening - the Cryptkicker Five - and although they had their own repertoire, they were also known to take requests. Bats flew about, swooping and sweeping about the Great Hall, keeping company with the House ghosts, who were most certainly in their element this night, celebrating with the best of them.
Albus and Minerva, as always the hosts with the most, kept a watchful eye on everything, greeting the guests as they arrived. A genial atmosphere pervaded over all, fun and geniality being the order of the day.
