Alice had been moving around from group to group, stopping to talk to ministry members that she didn't ordinary speak to, catching up with old classmates, and having halting conversations with people from the future. She stopped now and then to talk to Frank: to touch hands, to check with him that he wanted to stay.
As the evening wore on, Alice moved to the wall to catch her breath. Turning her face, she saw a handsome man leaning against the wall, looking bored. No matter how much she loved Frank- and she did love Frank dearly- she was still susceptible to the charms of handsome men. She wandered a few feet over so they could speak. "It can be a little much," she said, sympathetically.
