Helen noticed what James was doing and held back a sigh and a roll of her eyes. "I never was angry with you, sweetheart," she murmured, planting a soft kiss to her daughter's head. Her words were true. She'd never been particularly angry, just disappointed, but she didn't particularly want to say as much yet or that would likely restart the whole thing.
