It wasn't much of an obligation if Ashley wanted to spend time with her mother. To be entirely honest, she'd been busy and exhausted most often, too much to find the time to dote on her mother. She was starting to regret that, though, as she missed the easier days when she was younger and had all the time in the world to be with her mother.
"Not allowed," Ashley answered, after a moment of considering what to say in response. "I like it better when you're in the light with me."
When it was just the two of them, the world seemed to melt away. Ashley would do anything for her mother. Anything at all.
The hand on her arm was met with a smile as Ashley turned her hand over and moved it to take her mother's, returning the gentle, comforting squeeze. "That's very good, then. I hope it works out better than my case is."
