Re: Susan and Marcus
Marcus spotted the blush, heard the slight falter. Hufflepuffs were so easy to fluster. While at school, he used it ruthlessly for intimidation. Nowadays...it was strange how Houses didn't matter as much when out of school. During those years, House identity was everything. Now, they're just people.
Of course, he had Zach to thank for turning Marcus' opinion of Hufflepuffs in its head. If he could stand Zach, it was likely he could stand Susan as well. Plus, she danced, or so she said. He'd never actually seen her dance yet.
Marcus snorted, the sound unrefined, but of genuine amusement. "I stepped on her ego's toes, maybe. She kept trying to boss me around like I didn't know what I was doing. One thing growing up with wealth? You have to take a lot of stupid lessons growing up. I know how to dance," he started. "I know how to dance and I hate people who think I don't know anything because I'm a daft, brainless Quidditch player."
He looked at her. "I know things." He wasn't sure why he felt the need to explain that he wasn't as stupid as everyone thought he was.
