Exhaustion didn't nearly describe how Harry felt. In fact, he was quite certain that he was already dead and that somehow his body just kept going as though it hadn't realised that he'd expired at some point this week. By some luck, he'd managed to get himself a week off and if he made it through the evening, he planned to do nothing but sleep. The bakery was doing well enough that he could close it for a few days at least. People were just going to have to survive with the array of baked goods he'd managed to provide for this event.
The Atrium looked fantastic. There were twinkling lights and enormous photographs of the heroes that fell during the war. Harry gave a little salute to the smiling image of Fred as it floated past on a spelled route around the room.
After the war, People were still healing. The first remembrance day had been a sombre event, speaking of the losses and everyone had still been healing. Harry remembered being asked to make a speech, though he couldn't remember what he'd said. Or how much he'd drank. The only thing he could recall was that he'd woken up the next morning with a terrible headache.
As the years passed, the event settled into concurring in the summer, giving students a chance to attend. It became more of a charity function and for that Harry was truly grateful. They still remembered the fallen. There was still the heartache of loss, but now there was fundraising and it had turned into more of a celebration of the lives that were given. Honouring them instead of mourning them.
He was glad to attend.
He was also glad to attend with a very good friend. Tucking Luna's arm around his elbow, he grinned. "You look particularly spectacular tonight," he said, recalling the last time he'd attended a party with her and that she'd always managed to look brilliant and unique.
"Let's go find the refreshments," he said, casually interested in how they'd been displayed.
