"Helps that I spent a lot of time with the smartest witch I know," he said with a cheeky grin. "A healthy dose of fear also helps. I've seen what you can do with an Avis charm."
But it was true. Even when they were stamping about the country, tent camping and washing their clothes with scouring charms, he was always surprised that Hermione managed to look nice. Sometimes they were both a bit grimy, but she never looked awful.
He suspected, though, that thoughts like that were what led to things crossing that line between them. It was probably best if he didn't dwell on it.
"I've been so busy lately that I haven't really put much thought into the Gala itself. I might have a few ideas. You know... if Gloria doesn't pan out."
He really wasn't going to ask the elderly receptionist, but it was fun to talk about. "I should make sure I get my dress uniform to the cleaners. Pressed and whatnot."
