Zach caught himself looking dumbly down at her hand for a moment, before he remembered he was human and what he ought to do with it. He took it, giving a cursory shake. Another faint whiff of intriguing scent. Not perfume. Something... natural.
He let go of her hand, and told himself to focus and act normal. Or normal for him, in any event.
"Sorry," he said, not really meaning it. "I tended to keep my head down and focus on the spells during those meetings. Not a real welcoming crowd."
Uncomfortable, he rubbed idly at the back of his neck. He didn't normally have difficulty talking to the opposite sex, but he was thrown off by his unexpected reaction to her. There wasn't much more to say, anyway, but he wanted to keep her there until he figured this out.
"Anyway. That bloke was a twunt. And probably is running off customers. I won't spoil your article by lodging a complaint, though."
