WHO: Caradoc and Dorcas WHAT: Cleaning out Caradoc's work space. WHERE: The Daily Prophet Offices, elsewhere WHEN: October 1, early evening
The last day of his final two weeks at the Prophet was up, and for the first time Caradoc was feeling like he might have made the wrong decision. He'd known it would happen then, just before leaving with few future prospects and no daily routine to go through. There were certainly things he wouldn't miss, of course, but he couldn't help but feel a twinge of regret.
Caradoc sorted through his desk, deciding whether to keep this or throw that away. It had a very formal finality to it; there really was no going back after this. They'd already reassigned his desk; starting tomorrow, the nameplate would read Julia McKinley, Reporter. It was strange.
He came across an old photograph of himself and a few coworkers on his first day at the Prophet. It had been on his desk for years, though he'd eventually needed the space for other things. He'd forgotten all about it, but now looked at it fondly before packing into the 'keep' box.
