ATTACK ON MINISTRY LEAVES 20 DEAD
LONDON (DP) - In what has been confirmed as a Death Eater attack on the Ministry of Magic's headquarters in London Thursday afternoon, at least twenty people, wizarding and Muggle, were killed.
Fighting broke out within the Ministry itself around half past noon and quickly spread to the area outside the headquarters' visitors' entrance. As more Death Eaters arrived on the scene and Aurors poured out to deal with the threat, a number of Muggle bystanders were caught in the crossfire.
Eye-witnesses report a third group taking part in the fierce wand-fight, targeting the masked Death Eaters. Sources have been unable to confirm the identities of any members of this group, but at the moment, Bartemius Crouch, head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, has stated that they are being considered vigilantes to be brought to justice, and that anyone with any information about this group is asked to contact the Ministry for a possible reward.
Further reports state that a number of teenagers, likely Hogwarts students, participated in the battle, both on the side of the Death Eaters and the vigilante group. The Daily Prophet is unable to confirm these reports at this time.
After the battle, Ministry officials reported that they had taken five Death Eaters into custody. Their names have not yet been released to the public.
