BAGNOLD'S NIECE FOUND DEAD
 LONDON (DP) - Felicity Bagnold, the eighteen-year-old niece of Minister of Magic Millicent Bagnold, was found dead late last evening in the Fenland of Cambridgeshire. The body was found by a member of the Hit Wizard squad who was patrolling the area, whose name has not been released.
In a statement issued by the Ministry, Minister Bagnold expressed deep grief over the loss of her niece, and urged the press to allow the family time to grieve. Neither Elfred Bagnold, the Minister's brother and father of Felicity, nor his wife were willing to comment to the Daily Prophet on the situation.
An inside official at the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, who preferred not to be named, said that the body appeared to have been tortured and that it had likely lain in the marshland for weeks before being found. The source also said that the Auror office will be conducting renewed searches and investigations into the Hogsmeade attack and subsequent disappearances. The source claimed that the Minister is resorting to drastic measures after the loss of her niece, mentioning the use of Veritaserum and even the Cruciatus Curse in the extraction of information. Whether or not these claims prove true, they are a chilling example of the dire straits in which the war against the Death Eaters has put the Ministry.
In total, five Hogwarts students have been confirmed dead in the wake of the Hogsmeade attack. In addition to Felicity Bagnold, Michelle Alderton's body was discovered on Hogwarts grounds on 19 December, while the bodies of Eugene Clogg and Simon Peale were located early Christmas morning. Thaddeus Stump was discovered dead at the scene of the Hogsmeade massacre. A sixth student, Natalie Lemons, remains missing, but is presumed dead.
Felicity Bagnold was eighteen years old at her death. She was a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where she was in Ravenclaw house. An excellent student, she had earned nine O.W.L.s, and hoped to enter Medi-witch training upon graduation. |
