Dear Mum & Dad,

The last time I wrote, I enclosed a few clippings of the Daily Prophet so that you would know what's been going on in my world. It's frightening, it's dangerous, and yet I know I can't just drop it all and come home like some students have been doing. I feel like I'm meant to finish this and go on here, in this world. We never sat down to talk about what I would do once I left Hogwarts, whether I would come back to the Muggle world or continue on in the wizarding world, but since these events since November, I just know that I have more to do here.

I'm writing to let you know that I've signed up to join a group of people who are fighting this wizard, a group of people who call themselves the Order of the Phoenix. They're gathering information as I write to you, information that can stop this wizard--I'll call him You-Know-Who, since that seems to be what more and more people are calling him now. I'm telling you this because I owe it--I'm so glad you gave me the chance to do this, and grow into my full potential. You could have said no, we won't have a witch for a daughter, and been done with it, but you've been so patient and caring with me. As my parents and as people who helped make me what I am, I owe it to tell you.

I don't want you to worry much about me, though I suspect you will regardless. When I come home from Hogwarts for the final time in June, I plan on finding my own place as soon as possible. I can't risk my new lifestyle affecting you; if my decisions caused something terrible to happen to you, I could never forgive myself. This doesn't mean you won't ever see me again--on the contrary! I'll be bringing my boyfriend around for dinner at the soonest opportunity. I'm sure he wants to meet you, and you, him. Please send Tuney all of my infinite sisterly affection, and I'll write again soon!

Dear Tuney,
I hope you're feeling better since the last time I wrote, pneumonia can't possibly be as joyful as you're making it sound, regardless of however many fruitcakes and callers you've received. ~~I didn't mean to write about this at al-~~ Look Petunia--I know you and I don't get along so much anymore and though I can't pinpoint exactly where things went to pot, I know that there are more important things than what's going on here. I need to talk to you about something important when I come home; whether you want to listen is your prerogative, but you have to let me talk, at least for half an hour of your time. I hope things are going well with Vernon and his ever-lovely sister, Marge, and I additionally hope to hear back from you.
