Effie remained silent at that, not sure if Lucas was trying to draw her into an argument. She wouldn't give him the satisfaction, even if she wanted to say that she didn't underestimate Gryffindors generally and that she gave just the right amount of estimate to him in particular. However, she didn't say anything of the sort because he was doing her a favor and wasn't half bad at it.
She took the broom back with a grin. "That's good. I'm going to make some minor adjustments, then maybe you could try it again? Later today, or tomorrow depending on what you have going on?" There were higher priority things than brooms to accomplish, even if this was important. "But thanks. You gave me a lot of good suggestions, and I think I can have something safe for them to use very shortly here." By next week at the latest she hoped.
