One page from Power Girl #5
The source has the preview for Power Girl 5 up.

Shoes? They're for sissies, boys and girls. You thought Superman was tough? Think again.

Photobucket

Contextual reason (i.e. the uncool reason): She accidentally left her shoes at her office, along with her gloves. And decided to fight without them. Because she's awesome. (Also, she has really nice feet.)

"She accidentally left her shoes at her office, along with her gloves. And decided to fight without them."

Jesus, why doesn't this series make Power Girl a little more incompetent? She doesn't know how to run her own company, she doesn't even know what kind of product she's putting out, and now she can't even be bothered to dress herself correctly. Jesus Christ on a pogo stick.

To be fair, if I was invulnerable like that, I doubt I would wear shoes ever.

I don't know, I didn't think it was that bad. Of course, I'm the type of person who can never find my stuff when I need it either. I like that she's forgot the shoes, because it makes her more relatable than superheroes that are always perfect. If she forgot parts of her outfit on a daily basis, then that would be incompetent. But once? Jeez, give her a break.

I would find it weirder if she somehow knew how to run a software company even though we've never seen any signs that she would know anything about software creation or running a company.

In fact, I still find it weird.

Well, she saved New York alone in the last ark so I don't know, she's excellent at superheroics in this book.

I hope those tip-toes in the second panel are because she's landing, and she won't be walking like that the entire time . . .

She seems to be on flat-foot when she's leaning her weight on one leg in the next panel, so probably.

Art looks awesome, but they really aren't going to pains to show Karen as all that experienced, are they? She accidently causes a guy to get shot and doesn't even bother talking to the three aliens that came out!

Hey, at least she's out of the wedge heels.

I see her cape's been torn up, but in panels two and three it really looks like she's just wearing the World's Tiniest Cape. Like she decided that, sure, superheroes need capes, everyone knows that, but come on, she's seen The Incredibles- and six inches of fabric is still technically a cape, right?

It's just too bad Starrware doesn't have some kind of nanite-based assemblers that could create her costume from nearby base materials, instead of her having to wear it every where. But where would Starrware get something like that?

By the way, did I show you guys my Palmiotti-autographed copy of Power Girl #1? Here it is! See, it's got an arrow pointing to her breasts, and it says, "These are Starrware's business plan." Ha ha ha. Isn't that hilarious?

This could tap a whole new market. Soledad O'Brien said she gets a lot of mail from foot fetishists (for whatever reason). The letters start out normal and ask for an autographed photo but request that she be sure to send one that shows her feet. ("Open-toed shoes are the BEST!").

I don't get it myself, but whatever harmlessly makes people happy is okay.
