Is it wrong that the voice that I instantly put on Axel was Larry the Cable Guy?

But seriously, this actually doesn't look nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be--is it any good?

Since he looks like Larry the Cable Guy's evil twin, I'd say that fits just fine.

See I heard the voice of Bobby on Supernatural. He's got the same kind of support role as this guy except for the tech angle. I can see where LtCG would fit in too though...

I heard the voice of Bobby from Supernatural when I read this but Larry works too...

It's pretty good. I don't think I'll be adding it to my monthly purchases, but you could do a lot worse.

Huh. Not the 'Cable in the DCU' I was expecting. Of course, it's still early.

I kinda feel guilty, though, because even if this wins the Nobel prize for literature, DC would still have to pay *me* to read the thing.

I am a fan of Porter, though, and he seems to be getting back on his game.

Look at it this way: it's just the flipside of every comic book which gets more consideration than it deserves through association with better works which share the same characters.

Wait, so his arm is ok out of costume? Also, in the cover his horns look more like tentacles.

Well so far it's managed to avoid the worst of 90s Anti-hero cliches which seems odd to me since in Kingdom Come Magog was meant to embody every single one of those cliches.

Yeah. This appears to actually be kind of interesting and have some potential. Which utterly misses the point of Magog. I've been completely baffled as to why DC thought a Magog series was a good idea, and... now I understand why they thought this series was a good idea, but I'm even more confused as to why this happens to be Magog.

And that is precisely why I love the medium of comics so much.

Because it's beyond any attempt to understand, explain, or predict.

Either he's done a Heel Face Turn [tvtropes], or will have done a Face Heel Turn [ditto] sometime in the near future, unless things go differently than the KC future (assuming they haven't already).

Aw, man. I really don't want to like this guy, don't make me go there.

Seems like he doesn't have a good grip on the secret identity thing, with prominently displayed distinguishing marks in costume and out.

Kirby Tools and Romita's Rims, heh.

Has anyone told the Joker that he's about to be blasted to ... well, you know.

Yeah, but the Sandman has been dead for years by now. That messes up the KC timeline for the regular DC Universe.

Oh, yeah. Well, I was thinking that this Magog isn't going to wait for the Planet to be wiped out. Here's how it plays out in this universe -- Magog whacks Joker as soon as he steps out of Arkham, Harley drops a giant anvil labeled "ACME" on Magog two days later. Everyone else, happily ever after. Well, except for Bruce, who still drops off two red long-stems in Crime Alley every year...

I've been meaning to tell you that I like your Iris icon for a while now.

Yeah, I really hope this Magog doesn't end up being anything like the KC!Magog.

Thanks! :D save the icon if you wish.
Your Barry/Iris icon is really lovely as well. Mind if I gank it? :O

Yeah, I guess KC!Clark's already talked to Clark and the JSA about how his Earth ended up, so maybe with lessons learned...

Thanks, please do! :)

*sigh* am I the only one waiting for an recession-era purge of both the Marvel & DC lines? Much as I'm enjoying some new titles (Doom Patrol, Power Girl, Batgirl, Secret Six, new Bat books), why are these companies continuing to release new ongoing titles now? Used to be that we'd get a trial balloon in the form of a mini-series, and *then* move to an ongoing. *shakes head* Had a very revealing conversation with the owner of my LCS on Friday (shop closes on Dec 31), and he pointed out that the big two's response to the recession at the Feb NYC Comic Con was: (1) raise prices by $1; (2) increase output by 33%. I guess that as long as the new, new, new stuff sells (along with umpteen gazillion Wolvie and Bat titles), they see no reason to stop.

The overexposure this guy is getting is absolutely ridiculous. His appearance in the first issue of The Shield officially took it to absurd levels. And he's singlehandedly ruining JSA.

But this...wasn't a bad first issue. :/

"A full bore search engine married to a doppelganger feint." Uh. Yah.

"Mirage goes where other search engines fear to tread." You mean it ignores robots.txt files?

Seriously, writers, please, *please* talk to somebody who knows computers before you write dialog like this. It's so bad it's giving me a headache.

Beyond that Magog wasn't meant to be a deep character in the first place, I'm wondering how long DC thinks this book is actually going to last.

[info]ashtoreth

While this isn't bad at all, I'm going to avoid it anyway. I didn't like the KC character, this one acted like a jackass in JSA, and experience tells me that the first issue is always the honeymoon period, when they write the character as likable and heroic, no matter what their m.o. is.
