Well, meet Selene's inner circle.

616!Blink!
Dazzler's half-sister!

I'm not going to lie, but this made me a little excited.

I'm curious about the story, but in terms of the art, does she have some kind of birthmark or skin mottling? Because what the hell is going on with the shading of her backside/legs in that "seventeen thousand years later" panel?

I'm very amused by the description of "kills via vampire powers". Should we be expecting "kills via sharp teeth"?

Selene has always had a lot of potential as an X-Villain. I never saw her as the main villain in an X-crossover that heavily borrows from a DC Crossover, but still...

What crossover was that?

This crossover. Necrosha. Which has a lot of similarities with Blackest Night.

Which in turn had a lot of similarities to Marvel Zombies... So at this point it's hard to see who's ripping off who.

Johns had the idea for the emotional spectrum and the Blackest Night while writing Green Lantern: Rebirth, which was published December 2004. The first appearance of the Marvel Zombies were in Ultimate Fantastic Four, September 2005.

Beyond the basic idea of OMG ZOMBIES, there isn't much similar between the two, whereas Necrosha is so similar to Blackest Night it's not funny. Just sayin'.

I've heard this claim before, but I don't buy it.

Take BLACKEST NIGHT out of the equation... would you say NECROSHA is similar to MARVEL ZOMBIES?

[info]jlbarnett

no. Marvel Zombies is a gorefest with no overreaching plot. THe zombies have no goal except eat. This has a battle plan and a plot

This happens in every post that mentions this crossover. The thing in X-Force has been building for a while now, since well before Blackest Night went public, so it's just a weird coincidence. I'd imagine both events owe more to the popularity of Marvel Zombies than anything else.

The guy with the T-O (techno-organic) virus there is obsessed with Selene, and offered it to her to raise mutants from the dead as her servants.

So Blink's a villain 'cause she's programmed to be.

Except that Blink was working with Selene before Eli gave her the use of T-O virus (she can be seen behind Selene when Bard offers it to her).

Yay, 616 Blink! I'm actually looking forward to this story a lot mainly because of the characters that are showing up, (Pyro! Yay!) but also because I've really wanted to see what's up with Wither. I really hope Selene is working some mojo on him and he isn't just like, "I like to kill things now, even though I hated my powers before".

And holy crap, Senyaka? Aw man, I remember reading X-Men comics with him in them a looooong time ago.

Totally. Conan has been popular for almost 80 years. It will always be awesome. I read the old Savage Sword of Conan and Conan the Barbarian series from Marvel and think, "Those foolish fools! They could still have a regular Conan title and a MAX Conan title!"

Or Conan teaming up with Batman in the Brave and the Bold cartoon.
People of all ages and genders would cream themselves.

Either way the whole "liscenses are also part of the universe" deal sure have messed up a lot of things when said liscenses goes away.

Ugh...that last panel. Her head does not fit with her body. For one thing her face looks like a man's in drag. The other thing is her eyes are way too far up on her face at that angle. Her neck tapers so the base is much smaller than the top. Uuuuughgghghg...

Also that butt shot with the freaky mottled skin. yikes.

Waaaaait a second. Wasn't Senyaka that guy that was killed by Magneto (or Exodus) by being crushed into a tiny little ball way back in the 90s? He looks awfully familiar...

Man, I wish my comic collection wasn't collecting dust back on the East Coast. :(

Hrmm, that's actually kind of creepy, and in a good way. But seriously, Senyaka? The Mortal Kombat wannabe? Ugh. Couldn't he have stayed dead? There are so many more interesting dead mutants out there. Hell, the Xavier compound is practically littered with them. (In the fridge, in the cupbord, in the pantry, in the outhouse, surprisingly few in the graveyard).

Bring back Banshee while you're at it!

why resurrect Blink now. SHe sacrificed herself for GenX, a group of characters who have been completely ahnihillated. Skin and Synch are dead. Jubilee and Jono dead. Paige and Monet may as well be different characters.

Jubilee is my favorite X-Man character ever so hearing she was dead was somewhat distressing for me.

Look into my sparkly Jubilee icon and feel the disapproval.
