Ah, Vandal. Going for the father of the year award again, I see.

Damn. It's like how Cass Cain was trained, only with words. Poor little Scandal. Her woobie face in that one panel!

Also, Scandal's wayyyy older than I thought!

Kinda makes sense I guess, she's probably part immortal or something.

Uh? There didn't seem to be anything to establish her age here.

Scandal may be normal aged. Vandal tends to wear dated clothes...

I'd say this is at least the middle of the 20th century, going from the teddy bear with the T-shirt. Scandal was around for the gulags, though, we found out last issue.

How so? We know her mother is still alive and nothing in the scene seems overly dated.

Cue the plotline where Scandal sets out to recover her teddy bear, Bobo, a symbol of her lost youth and innocence.

I admit I smiled at his manservant/butler/whatever.

"Master Savage, please don't kill me, but..."

There's something to be said about the little touches like that. As if sending his daughter through that wasn't bad enough, you get the feel that Vandal actually might have killed servants for lesser things.

Really? Because that annoyed me. Supervillains are always disemboweling their underlings at the slightest real or perceived offense. It gets old. Very old. Personally, I also think it's smarter for them to not kill their underlings for little offenses. You catch more flies with honey and etc. Fear can be used to condition someone to obey you unconditionally, but villains never use it that way. They just kill and expect their other minions to not run off when they get the chance for some reason or another.

only outdone by Doctor Psycho's response: " Do you have any sauce? He's a bit dry. "

Ok, once again I am impressed by a story. Art could be a little better (because I am used to the manga that have similar moments) but still very impressed.

A GREAT twist would have been if Scandal would've turned on her father instantly at that moment, with his back turned, showing just how well she learned her lesson.

Scandal, Ravager and Cass should really have a team-up - they would have a lot in common (I don't count the OOC Ravager/Cass thing in the Batgirl mini).

Um...after he gave the child they just beat (and who has powerful motivation) a weapon much more deadly than theirs, should the guys with sticks be standing there quite so stoically? They know they're gonna get killed regardless.

Vandal Savage is one of my favorite DC villains. What is interesting about Scandal's relationship to him is that she adds an incredibly bitter and sad note to his story. Before, he was always about having lots of descendants for organ harvesting, which is fine.

But I find it terribly sad that in his long, miserable life, he only allowed himself to fall in love one time...in untold centuries, ONE time he let his guard down, and she LEFT him! That just, urgh, that's a story waiting to be told.

I don't think he loves Scandal. He cares about her only because of her mother. He can't kill her and he can't ignore her and he can't embrace her.

It's fucked up.

Minion 1: Wait, what did he just say about "crushed, disemboweled and mutilated"?
Minion 2: I dunno, but this is the most fun I've had since my teeth got knocked out.
Minion 1: Uh, what's that on her arm? I don't know about this...
Minion 2: Shut up, dude, you're gonna ruin the moment for me!
Vandal: DE NOVO! AGAIN!

Could I have loved someone like the one I see in you
I remember the good times, baby, now, and the bad times too
These last few weeks of holding on
The days are dull, the nights are long
I guess it's better to say
Goodbye to you...

The bear's a pretty blatant attempt to reinforce the platonic Bane-Scandal relationship, isn't it?

Mutual daddy issues (admittedly, of different sub-types) would be a pretty good bond all on its own.

Was it really necessary to also give them teddy issues?
