3 from Cry for Justice #3

It turns out that the "Prometheus" that Hal and the others had caught was a Clayface. Prometheus wanted to attract a whole bunch of heroes to a decoy, then set off a bomb.

The real Prometheus decides to have a talk with one of his underlings, who's curious as to what the boss has in mind.

Europe's hero population never seems to fare well when Robinson is writing, does it?

You'd think that if the European superheroes were getting slaughtered, they'd call over Wonder Woman or someone for help, wouldn't you?

You know, I find Prometheus's de-aging of Ira Quimby a more convincing act of villainy than the random slaughter of a few Global Guardians.

Villains, whether they have "delusions of grandeur" or not, sometimes want to hurt heroes instead of kill them. ("And I wish to go on... hurting you.") Exactly what Prometheus wants to do to hurt the heroes could be interesting... but I have my doubts.

Why did you have to kill Tasmanian Devil.

That is like a textbook definition of gratuitous. And Prometheus looks quite silly in this artstyle.

Wow, first he killed the last of the Justice League International (you know, I always hated how they were killed to make the new Mist look good), now at least 3/7 of the Global Guardians?

What'd Europe ever do to you, James? I didn't actually give a damn about any of the Global Guardians individually, but it was nice knowing Europe had something.

Still, like I've said elsewhere, I think Cry for Justice is almost freakishly worse than his other DC output at the moment, which I've often been enjoying. Hell, he had Mon-El go around the world interacting with cool obscure international heroes. Makes this dismissal of Europe's heroes seem even more bizarre in retrospect, but... I'm still hopeful this is just something bad that Robinson needs to get out of his system.

Any chance I or someone can still post the only thing good in this mini thus far. A certain appearance from a certain character from Opal who we've all been hoping Robinson would be writing again. And no not Jack. THE OTHER more shadowy one. ;)

Robinson killed off the Tasmanian Devil.

He. Killed. Off. The. Tasmanian. Devil.

The only genuine, bonafide Australian member of the Justice League.

Right.

If I'd actually been buying this miniseries, this is the point where I would've torn it to shreds. And then set fire to it. And pissed on the ashes. Because that's what Australians do, fucking damn it.

Wow. I'm really mad about this. Leaving aside the fact the guy was gay, he was a friggin' AUSTRALIAN. That ain't sittin' well with me.

It was a Clayface, or a Skrull, or a Martian or something. If anyone asks, that is. Because as far as I'm concerned, THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN. And the next time Robinson visits a zoo, a kangaroo is probably gonna kick his stomach out through his neck. Bastard.

*stomps off*

Sigh, and I'd hoped the recent "I am a new super-evil villain called Zodiac, and to prove I'm a real super-evil badass, rather than doing something creative and new, I'm going to casually mention I've killed all the other people who were members of the more interesting and novel Zodiac offpanel" was an isolated throwback to the 1990's

And add me to the "Stop fucking gratuitously killing JLA/I members Robinson!" group.

Why does this HURT SO MUCH? Seriously, WHY?

I'm supposed to swallow that Prometheus just murders three superheroes and no one notices? Well, I suppose if the JL did nothing when five of their members were killed by the new Mist, in Robinson's mind that tracks.

But I'm having a REAL HARD TIME accepting that he could manage to steal the Time Pool, the Cosmic Treadmill and a Zeta Beam generator and NO ONE would come looking for them, alert the JL or anything like that? Seriously?

I think his removing IQ's brain power is probably far more villainous than his superfluous murder of some C-listers, though you gotta wonder much of a super-genius IQ was if he fell for the old 'there's something in your drink' gag.

Is there a word for the trope where an established character is unceremoniously killed off to make another character appear tougher (examples include this, Sentry killing Carnage and Attuma, ect)?
