This is now my favorite thing in the history of ever.
I can read this a million times and it'll never get old; that's how awesome I find it.

You know, I've always liked the fact that Bart's never complained about his villainous ancestry, at least not as far as I can recall.

You know, I've always been curious as to why Kid Flash's costume more closely resembled Zooms costume than Flashes. In a superhero rpg setting I am working on privately Flash was created by a Government organization, and Zoom was his predecessor who went insane.

I think the first Kid Flash appeared before Zoom.

Yes, no?

Kid Flash first appeared in 1959.

Professor Zoom first showed up in 63.

So Yeah, Kid Flash showed up first.

Still doesn't explain why Kid Flash kept the inverted colors after Zoom made the scene. Why would you dress like an exact copy of your mentors arch nemesis?

"What's wrong with 'Michael Bolton'? There's nothing wrong with that name."

"No, there WAS nothing wrong with that name, until that no-talent ass-clown became famous and ruined my life."

"You know, you could always just go by 'Mike' ..."

"No way! Why should *I* be the one who has to change his name? HE'S the one who sucks!"

I would actually pay money to see a flashback where Wally uses dialogue very similar to these lines to explain why he kept his Kid Flash colors.

In Impulse and Kid FLash, the Sins of Youth special issue he said he considered that costume one of the all time great hero costumes and he'd have kept wearing it except he wanted to pay tribute to Barry.

I have to agree. The Kid Flash costume was one of the most sexy and/or cute costumes out there. Wally has never been as cool without it.

True for Michael Bolton and true for Kid Flash.

Wally's Kid Flash costume was originally identical to Barry's costume, just smaller (for obvious reasons). The during a story where Barry developed psionic powers, he altered wally's costume to be more of an inverse of his own, and opened the cowl to let his hair through. Wally had been wanting his own look and kept the new costume (It's possible the costume was based on Wally's mental image of his possible new costume)

Zoom came along many years later, and since Wally was there first, I imagine he saw no reason to change his costume because of THAT lunatic.

Wally's second costume (now Bart's) is by far the more attractive of the Flash costumes! Not only does the mask not involve the hair-covering section (granted, a MUST if you need to keep replacing wearers while maintaining an image of consistency), but the abdominal break is more eye-catching than the simple lightning bolt/belt illusion, and the separate gloves seem much better than the Flash's onesie. YMMV.

No argument Wally's second Kid Flash is a great costume, though I don't care for the pointless alteration made for Bart, with the shinguards that just spoil the flow of the thing, and he should have kept the Impulse goggles if nothing else... Actually I'd prefer it if he'd kept the Impulse costume... and the name... and the personality... but such is life!

Never really looked at Bart's costume (Wally was a contemporary growing up), so I didn't note the differences. Hated the Impulse thing, though, mostly because when a superhero shows up wearing something practical (like Bart's or Selina's goggles), the non-practicality of other costumes is more pronounced.

I'm so glad they lost those awful boots/shin guards. They really hurt the flow of the costume. And I say that as someone who never really liked the Kid Flash suit in the first place.

Chalk me up on wanting to keep the old Impulse suit, too, though.

Professor Zoom came along only one year after Wally switched to yellow, actually.
Well, unless you mean when he was born, which was more like 500 years later.

I love Bart so damned much. And a character with partly villainous ancestry who doesn't complain or angst about it (at least not a lot, if any), wow!

That is, indeed, such a great shot.

And Bart was so neat that he really didn't angst over his lineage. When he found out his mom was a Thawne, he was more hurt that she didn't just say so from the very beginning. "You act like it'd make a difference."

Oh Bart...
