Gotham Sirens #3
The first three pages from Gotham Sirens #3.

My thoughts on that first page when I first read this:

NO!!!!!!!! HOW COULD THEY DO IT!? HOW!? DAMN YOU DC! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!! I SHOULDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO FLIP THROUGH the..

GENIUS! EDWARD NYGMA LIVES! Damn Lobdell you fooled me! I should have seen the obvious trap, but fell for it hook, line, and sinker. But did he fool you too when you read this? :P I have to say, I really really loved this issue even if it was techincally a fill-in. Even more so I dare say this was probably one of my fav tales involving Eddie period. GET THIS ISSUE!!

You know, I'm glad he's not dead, but I'm not glad he's drawn that way alive. He looks like he's trying to channel the Joker from the animated Brave and the Bold, and not in a good way.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought that. He's supposed to be a non-villain now, right? That hasn't changed?

That gave me a heart attack though! Thank goodness it was just a trick.

Only looks like that for the first six pages. The rest are in his mask and hat.

Golden Age Riddler kinda looked like that, though.

I'll never get over how darned lucky the TV show was to cast Frank Gorshin as the Riddler, his resemblence to the original comic book appearance was uncanny (and his hyper-manic performance extraordinary)

Unfortunately, John Astin (who I loved in other roles) also played the Riddler in the show. Didn't shave the mustache, either.

I don't think I ever actually saw that episode, so I can pretend it doesn't exist.

Fill in, not the first time he's done this. It happened a ton of times on Tec remember.

All images from new comics must be placed beneath the LJ-cut. (I realize that the gag is that the Riddler isn't dead, but that panel still counts as a spoiler.) Please edit your post so that spoiler-y images or information is beneath the cut. Thanks!

I agree -- buy this issue! It was a fantastic Riddler story.

"By the way, it's killing me not to ask you, 'Why is this man smiling?'"

Lobdell has a pretty damn good handle on Eddie.

I dunno. I mean this ish threw me. I was expecting the girls and got Eddie. And while I enjoyed Eddie's interaction with Dick/Bats, I would have liked to see a better continuation with the girls.

Also March's art. Ugh. There's a panel where that Conundrum chick looks like a female Joker. Just.... ugh.

Well wasn't this ish supposed to be Harley and Hush? Instead we got this. Perhaps Dini's issue got delaid so DC did this instead.

Ah, good - Dini out of the way, now my man Eddie can appear to be a competent professional rather than a malicious Lionel Hutz.

If only someone who didn't consider him their personal punching bag could get their hands on him for a longer span of time. Slott did a pretty good job with the DCAU comc version once; is he still a Marvel exclusive?

I think this Scott Lobdell guy needs to take over writing duties, because it's very clear that what the Sirens title needs is lots of Eddie Nigma being sarcastic at Ivy, and him & Catwoman being all pissy at each other. This issue was just killer, so much better than the first two issues.

I admit.

I was fooled, but the issue made up for it. And say what you will, but I like the art and especially the coloring and nom nom Riddler.

I was fooled.

This issue reminds me how much I like Lobdell's writing. Where the hell has he been? Eddie was unbearably cool and I even liked Dick as Batman, and that is no small feat. He should do a Riddler mini series.

Has he ever written Riddler before? Because this was totally my favourite Riddler in the DCU.

Well, I wasn't fooled - but then again, my initial reaction was 'of COURSE he isn't dead - this is some sort of a mock-up body that Eddie has cooked up to get the Bat off his tracks'. I didn't think that he might be doing his best dead body imitation, for the benefit of no one in particular. So maybe I WAS fooled - but I was right. Partly.

I wasn't fooled - though I was surprised he was revealed as alive right away. I was expecting most/all of the issue to be spent with everyone believing he was dead, then he'd pop up, having been working on something in the background, and the rest of the issue/all of the next issue would show us what he was doing.

That would have been interesting, but this got us an awesome Riddler issue and a good laugh.
