Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Where to BEGIN with this... this.. epitome of awesome crackitude! :)

The International League of Evil Clichés is a good place to start obviously!

The fact that before plunging into the freezing ocean they both strip down to skivvies. Losing the capes yes, but they're tunics are apparently neither waterproof nor insulated... silly Dynamic Duo...

The fact that Robin is clearly wearing leopardskin trunks when he arrives on the island... So presumably he was wearing them UNDER the scaled trunks of his costume... kid has issues.

Near naked Robin and tentacles... oh if only he were ten years older so I didn't feel quite so pervy about that.

I want DC Direct to release those jungle Batman and Robin figures... NOW dammit!

You covered just about everything I was going to say. Robin was wearing leopard skin undies. This can not be said enough.

But when you think about it, if the over-trunks are scaled, Maybe he likes furry shorts against his skin?

Also that palm tree-as-slingshot trick looks dangerous!

p.s. They have no nipples.

Batman likes both himself and his Robins to be smooth... REALLY smooth... even if it requires nipplectomies!

Sometimes you see a body-builder with such huge pecs that the nipples are on the underside so to speak and not immediately visible.

In this case, though, it's a snooty guy from the Comics Code going over every page with an eraser and searching for nipples, cameltoes, blood, hypodermic needles, anything on his list.

I've mentioned before that Jim Mooney used to draw his Supergirl naked, then add the costume during the inking. Presumably this was for anatomical accuracy and to amuse himself, but once in a while it was too obvious and the inking had to be redone here and there.

CCA did't come into play until 1954, this is from 1951. :)

Hmm. Well, DC obviously didn't have much to change when the Code came in, then. They were always a bit more sedate and family-friendly than, say, Timely or MLJ.

Honestly, this underage boy traipsing around in undies probably caused the comics code as much as anything else.

Dude, you are the mothafuckin' Batman. Did you have to kill the panther?

I know, I know, but so many of us have done badly-thought-out stunts when impressing a pretty boy...

Pah, anyone can catch a fish, or knock down a coconut. But freshly grilled panther steaks from your own kill? Now THAT'S a meal worthy of Batman and Robin!

I'm sure it will be totally worth Selina kicking the everloving crap out of them when she finds out :P

Yes, he did, if only shut those T'Challa fanboys' mouths.

"Who's wearing panther skins now?"

Gotta respect a story that manages to be equally offensive to so many ethnic groups.

Not to mention how the Dynamic Duo seem to have already set up a protocol to "Strip off all unessential clothing!"

Oh. My. God!
If the:
'Well, here we are Robin!
This is what a Jungle Batman and Robin look like!
panel was the only thing in this story, it'd be totally worth it,

BUT THERE'S MORE!

Also, I'm going to start saying, "Yes, Batman! No more of the simple pleasures for you!" as often as possible.

*snort*

While the idea of Robin wearing leopard print under-pantie-panties is hilarious enough, personally I'd prefer to think that he actually wrestled with, killed, skinned, and sewed some shorts out of a dreaded Sea Leopard between panels.

Also, that is one gigantic elephant.

And when you have a group of infuriated, rampaging elephants, is jumping on one's back really the best idea?

It's certainly a better idea than running along side them...

You have to imagine the writers sitting in front of the editor's desk. Year after year after year... four Batman stories every month, three for BATMAN and one for DETECTIVE COMICS. "Batman becomes a ghost? Robin is tempted to join another crimefighter? Thomas Wayne is suspected of having been a crook? How about a time travel story, to the Old West? Hmm, hmm... how about Batman and Robin play Tarzan in leopardskins? Okay, twelve pages, have it in by Friday."

Does it seem to you that B+R run across an awful lot of ancient ruins on their adventures? Also, does it seem to you that they're awfully... well, CASUAL about it? I mean, look at that field of giant statues they're running through. That's some pretty cool stuff right there - I bet a lot of archaeologists would be mighty interested. And yet, no one (except for the narrator) even mentions them! I mean, I know that they're kinda focused on what they're doing, but you'd think that afterwards, we'd at least get a nod towards how they're, y'know, standing in the middle of a field of giant stone idols:

"Well, that wraps that up. Remind me to inspect those sulphur deposits I... hey... whoa! Robin, did you notice these?"

"Wow! A field of giant stone idols! Holy cow!"

"Indeed. They must date back at least a thousand years! And look at those faces - they're African faces, yet the Asian clothes and the crossed-leg poses seem to suggest a Buddhist connection! A record of a lost chapter in the history of Buddhism! What a find!"

"Golly! Well, we may have lost the Navy's ship, but I bet the professors at the Gotham Museum will be interested in this!"

"You said it, old chum! Now let's go back to catching crooks, shall we?"

That would be great for an archaeological-themed duo.

Wonder Girl and Solstice, maybe.
