It gives the outfit a kick and moves it from a mere bathing suit (sans sash) to a costume. It's very classic and better than her other costume efforts (and her bum cheeks are covered!), but if she's flying between buildings, suppose it caught on a nail or... something?

I must admit, this is why I like Brian Hitch's costumes (like Ultimate Wasp), because he seems to think about stuff like that.

	I remember going through that list of super heroes that was on the incredibles dvd. It was really depressing because nearly every hero entry listed them as killed on duty, a grand majority due to a costume malfunction. Seems like a supervillain could make themselves very effective if they got into the costume design business... (Reply to this) (Parent)

	You'd actually have to be of normal strength to not be able to rip your cape off. Certain clothing items, like cat collars, are made now with breakaway snaps at the slightest tug. Honestly, it was a cute joke, but doesn't make much sense in a superhero universe. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	She moves with the force and power of a missile when she wants too... how is a sash belt going to "impede her progress" if it gets caught on anything, it'll rip long, long before she's remotely impeded. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	I liked that costume as well. It had a wasp-like color scheme and was reminiscent of an insect's carapace. The downward pointing chevrons could also be taken to mean "This Way to Heaven." Especially whenever Hank Pym went "spelunking." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Hank was jealous of Jan's wings, so his costume provided the illusion. Sadly, as impractical as guys' costumes tend to be, straight male artists never seem to cutaway their costumes as often as it happens with the women's. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Someone needs to tell him that that costume does not make him look like he has pretty wings like Jan's. It makes him look like a Cadillac from the 1950s. (starring Hank Pym as...The Eldorado!)

...I am all in favor of more beefcake-y cutaway costumes for our male heroes, except when they try, we always end up with horrible, horrible results, like Steve's Nomad costume. Can no one draw a decent scantily-clad man in this day and age?

	OMG, now I want Hank to become The Prius when Jan comes back! I kinda liked the 'open shirt' thing they tried back in those days. Bother Voodoo was particularly hot, IMO, as was Original Recipe Falcon. And if shorts are good enough for athletes, why must our heroes cover every inch of leg? At least some equity. I like the open shirt style on heroes who one would reasonably expect to be bullet-proof or at least able to get out of the way quickly. On characters like Steve it just makes me wince and wait for them to get gutted like a fish. I am with you 100% on the shorts though! Marvel should take a page from DC's book on the appropriateness of spankypants to showcase long, muscular manly legs for their readership.

	It's worth keeping in mind he came up with that particular style choice when he was under the delusion he was his own murder.
